The article considers semantics of phraseologisms from the position of anthropocentrism.
Special attention is paid to the description of phraseological somatisms of Old Slavic and Ancient
Russian origin, which form one of the main parts of the phraseological fund and actively function in
modern Russian. On the basis of the "Phraseological Dictionary of the Old Slavic Language," a
historical and cultural analysis of phraseologisms containing sacral meanings in their semantics,
related to biblical texts, is given. In addition, on the basis of examples excerpt from philosophical,
poetic, religious texts, the most "established" combinations in the language knot are analyzed,
including somatisms with archaic meanings such as eyes and mouth.
