Annotation:
The article analyzes the ways of translating the metaphors used in Mustay Karim’s short stories
“Long, Long Childhood”, “Clemency”. In translation practice, when translating expressive means, 4 methods are
used: literal translation; translation by conversion of individual components; translation by replacement; transfer
by compensation method. Translator Ilgiz Karimov uses three of the methods listed above to translate metaphors.
These are such as literal translation, replacement and compensation method. The translator appropriately applied
these methods and successfully translated the metaphors.
