Abstract. The article covers the concept of “patriotic upbringing” as an educational
purpose in schools for moral development of children to help to awake students’ individual
qualities such as pride and love for their motherland, the ability to respect the cultural and
historical legacy of their own homeland and tolerance to other nationalities’ cultural values. The
importance of the patriotic upbringing is shown, in particular, in foreign-language learning in
school. The recommendations on project-based method activities in foreign-language lessons
through a prism of patriotic upbringing are given according to the age of students.
