The flock is devoted to a comparative study of the category of politeness in Russian and
Kazakh languages. The meaning of this concept appears to be an abstract mental formation, which
can be carried out using verbal and non-verbal means. In the article, the authors proceed from an
understanding of the universality of the politeness category and consider it taking into account
gender, cultural, sociolinguistic, cognitive approaches using an associative method based on verbal
associations of Russian and Kazakh respondents.
