  1. The word holiday means “holy day” and most of these holidays are of religious origin, but nowadays they are simply days when people relax and don’t go to work.

Ptobably everyone is already tired, let's sing a song about “Holidays”
Let's do exercise. True or false.

1. Halloween celebrated on December 31.

2. On New year day children knock the door their neighbours and say ' treat' or 'threat'.

3. St. Valentine's day celebrated on February 14.

4. Santa Claus comes on Thanksgiving day.

5. On Valentine's  day many people send cards to people they love.

6.New Year day celebrated on December 31.

-Question

You know that people like to celebrate holidays all over the world. Nowadays different people celebrate different holidays .What about your families? What holidays do your families prefer to celebrate and how do they do it?

Let's sing a song and stretching Jingle Bells.

" Jingle Bells"
Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way.
Bells on bobtails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh.

At finally, we'll have our last game. As we know every holiday has its own symbol or emblem and your task will be to find the emblem and the same holiday:

And at the end of our lesson, let's summarize. Here's what you wrote when we were playing in a tree expectations. Did we get all the expected results? What do you think about it?
- Our lesson is over. We've made so much today and as a conclusion of our lesson I wish you be always happy. And I extremely agree with Abraham Lincoln, who said "Most people are as happy as they make up their minds to be". Study foreign languages, not only English, and know traditions of foreign people because of it's very interesting.

Let's say "Good-bye" to our guests.

Home task

Your homework is to write essays about customs and traditions of Great Britain.

Additional information

Differentiation – how do you plan to give more support?

How do you plan to challenge the more able learners?

Assessment – how are you planning to check learners’ learning?

  • Capable students can quickly solve problems and correctly write an essay.

  • Capable students, I would give separate tasks. For example, tests and exercises.

I will evaluate them as they work in groups. Do they answer the task correctly? How correctly did the essay be written.

Summary evaluation

What two things went really well (consider both teaching and learning)?

1:
2:
What two things would have improved the lesson (consider both teaching and learning)?

2:

What have I learned from this lesson about the class or achievements/difficulties of individuals that will inform my next lesson?
