The Kazakh population of northern Kazakhstan in 1897-2009
The problems connected with dynamics of absolute number and changes of specific weight of the Kazakhs as a
part of the population of Northern Kazakhstan throughout the long historical period – from 1897 to 2009 are con-
sidered in this article.
Today the tendency of increase in the number of the Kazakh population in the region was defined accurately and
became stronger as a result of the favorable population policy developed by efforts of the President of Kazakhstan
N.A. Nazarbayev.
