risk for problems such as stillbirth and pregnancy loss.
Pregnant women with black or Hispanic skin color are more likely to be affected by infection with
COVID -19 virus. Pregnant women who have other medical conditions, such as diabetes, may be at
even higher risk of severe illness from COVID -19.
Contact your health care provider immediately if you have COVID -19 symptoms or if you have been
in contact with someone who has COVID -19. It's recommended that you get tested for COVID -19
virus. Call your healthcare provider before your appointment and let him or her know about your
symptoms and possible exposure.
If you have COVID -19 and are pregnant, your doctor may recommend treatment with a monoclonal
antibody. Treatment with a monoclonal antibody is a one-time infusion given through a needle in the
arm (intravenously) in an outpatient setting. Monoclonal antibody medications are most effective
when given soon after the onset of COVID -19 symptoms.
Your treatment may also include drinking plenty of fluids and resting. You may also take medicines
to lower your fever, relieve pain, or reduce your cough. If you're very sick, you may need to be treated
in the hospital.
