Results and Discussion. For the first time, a comprehensive study of the state of the light-receiving part and auxiliary structures of the visual sensory system in higher school students was carried out during the entire period of study. This made it possible to assess the influence of the training load on the functional capabilities of the visual analyzer of this category of trainees, to identify the most informative criteria for assessing its state.
It was found that by the fourth year of study, visual acuity deteriorates, contrast sensitivity decreases, mainly at high frequencies, initial trophic disorders in the retina and optic nerve are revealed, the volume of absolute and relative accommodation decreases, myopia progresses, intraocular pressure increases during physical training. The system of prevention of the development of professional myopia in trainees has been substantiated, aimed at training the adaptive mechanisms of the visual sensory system and reducing the degree of progression of myopia in cadets of the "risk group". The quantitative characteristics of the dynamics of the functional state of the visual sensory system in the process of adaptation to new specific conditions of vocational training, which allow for targeted psychological and pedagogical control and prevention, have been established.
Informative criteria for assessing the functional state of the visual sensory system have been developed and introduced into the practical activities of higher education, which make it possible to identify among the students in whom, with a sufficient degree of probability, visual fatigue arising in conditions of visually-intense work will lead to the development of myopia.
A system of measures to improve the process of adaptation of the visual sensory system of students to the training load is proposed for practical use by a psychologist - pedagogical service. The research results were introduced into the work of the psychological and pedagogical service in the direction in table 2.
Public health is a multicomponent dynamic system that controls the health of the individual and the student community and is determined by many factors that form the psychosomatic organization of a personality of a very different nature. So, depending on a number of external (that is, existing regardless of the subjective factor) and internal (subjective-personal) conditions of the daily life of an individual, there are both natural (biogenic) factors and artificial ones generated by society (sociogenic) and a number of others [ 7, 8].
