Introduction. One of the basic rules of healthy communication is listening. Hearing takes a
significant place in the teaching and understanding of foreign languages. "Speak less, listen more."
Here, of course, the seriousness of the hearing is emphasized.
Such proverbs indicate that
understanding and learning a subject requires listening skills.
There is not much difference between giving another person the right to speak and behaving
when he listens to what he has to say, allowing him to express his feelings and expressions. One is
the ability to understand and the other is the ability to explain, and this close interest between
listening and speaking cannot be ignored. Listening training helps in learning a foreign language
and social life by revealing important points about listening and improving
your communication
skills to be a good listener.
Listening is a vital component of the oral communication, or the interactive process in which
the individual takes the roles of speaker and listener through a verbal and non-verbal component [1,
23].
The famous saying says: "We are given two ears, but only one mouth, because listening is
twice as difficult as speaking." Practice shows that of all
the skills of speech activity, students'
listening skills are, as a rule, the least developed.
Clark and Clark gave both a narrow and broad definition of listening comprehension
“Comprehension has two common senses. In its narrow sense it denotes the mental processes by
which listeners take in the sounds uttered by a speaker and use them to construct
an interpretation of
what they think the speaker intended to convey… Comprehension in its broader sense, however,
rarely ends here, for listeners normally put the interpretations they have built to work” [2, 43-44].
Thus, it should be noted that listening training in a non-linguistic university should be leaded
in such lines, like: education in a complicated conjunction together with the formation of speaking
skills and abilities and basic listening the presentation of texts must be strictly observed the scope of
the class cycle and contain familiar vocabulary. Listening materials should become more complex
as the volume of speaking of the language material itself expands.
Purpose of the research. The main purpose of this study is to reveal to what extent listening is
important. To present a general understanding about the issue.
Methodology of the research. Listening skills have been studied by many researchers.
Scientists define logical framework on academic listening as the use of incoming data as a source of
information about the meaning of a message.
