The article contains a basis of the theoretical and practical significance of
linguoculturological competence for the formation of a language personality in connection with the
competence approach to the modern teaching of the Russian language. The author pays special
attention to the development of linguistic-cultural competence. The article presents information
about cultural linguistics, on which the main research and definitions of linguistic and cultural
competence are based. The article considers the idea of the anthropocentricity of language,
linguistic culturology as a product of the anthropocentric paradigm in modern linguistics. The main
linguoculturological tasks of the “Russian language” discipline are defined. The author presents
tasks aimed at the formation of linguistic and cultural competence. The results of the work and
conclusions can be used in the practice of teaching.
